How to deliver public health communication with wit and charm.
Well done to everyone behind Imperial College’s COVID-19 vaccine commercial featuring Sir Elton John and Sir Michael Caine. Public health information campaigns are typically dour affairs, in which the desire to punch home ‘important’ messages takes precedence over the need to create compelling communication in which people will engage.
This is a great example of how serious messages can be conveyed with a degree or wit and informality. With vaccine refusal at dangerously high levels within some communities and countries, any initiative that grabs people’s attention has to be applauded.
