Why 50-something entrepreneurs will lead the post Covid recovery.

Economists are predicting the worst recession for 300 years.
At high50 we say ‘every cloud has a silver lining’…

The post lockdown economy may be in the toilet, but we see an amazing opportunity for 50+ encore entrepreneurs to build exciting, future facing businesses that play a significant role in reviving our economy.

The idea of retiring at 64 has long been outdated. For a multitude of reasons we are moving into an age of ‘no retirement’ where many work on into older age, ideally doing something they love.

Survey after survey shows that entrepreneurs over the age of 50 are far more likely to succeed in their venture than their millennial counterparts.

‘Encore entrepreneurs’ have the qualities that it takes to make a successful startup: Wisdom. Experience. Skills. Realistic expectations. Contacts. Less financial pressure. A deeper understanding of who they are, and what they really want. And, perhaps most importantly what other people (customers) want.

If we were Rishi Sunak, we’d be investing heavily in encore entrepreneurs. It’s time to stop looking at life though millennial tinted spectacles. Embrace the ‘encore entrepreneur army.’
